About me
I’m Doug Palmer. I work in behavioral science, mostly on the parts people tend to overthink or overlook. These are the invisible frictions, decision traps, and follow-through failures that get in the way of otherwise good plans.
I lead the behavioral science team at Sompo Holdings, where I help teams across insurance, health, and digital services apply behavioral insights in practical ways. Before that, I worked at Travelers Insurance, focusing on decision-making in claims and litigation. Earlier in my career, I was at ideas42, where I helped design and run experiments in finance, government, and health.
This site is where I share what I’m learning. That includes frameworks, case studies, and the occasional opinion on what actually works in the field. Some of it is free. Some is members-only. None of it is written for clicks or algorithms.
Why this exists
- To work through ideas that don’t belong in a slide deck
- To make behavioral science more usable in real settings
- To connect with people who are working on hard problems and prefer straight answers
